This one tip might save you more than any other tip you’ve ever heard….are you ready for it? BE CONTENT! ” That new play station game will make me happier.”  “I can’t be happy living in a rundown house.”  “If only we didn’t have to worry about our money.” Any of those sound familiar? We all seem to have our “if only…”. But the funny thing is even when we get what we want it never seems to bring the happiness we thought it would, so we come up with another “if only…”

Some of our wants aren’t money related, but a lot are. Bigger house, nicer clothes, new car etc… If we realize that getting those things won’t bring us joy (just look at how miserable rich people are), then why do we keep striving for that? And on top of that, it makes us not thankful for what we do have. Instead of being thankful for a roof over our heads, we’re always wishing we had something nicer.

I don’t in anyway claim to be always content. God’s still working on me in that area too. Here’s some verses that help me:

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

“And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” 1 Timothy 6:8

Remember, when we have Christ and all the spiritual blessings He’s given us, it’s so much better than material wealth which will all be gone someday anyways.
