When I saw The Frugal Girl’s pizza bagels they looked so good, and so much easier than making crust, especially in my tiny kitchen. I’ve made them a couple of times and thought it’d be good to see how much cheaper they really are than ordering a pizza, and I was very pleased with the results!

$1.50 for a pack of 6 bagels, which makes 12 bagel pizzas, which is plenty for my family of 3. Last time we had these we even had 3 leftover, which Gracia and I ate for lunch the next day. I compared prices and the bagels in the refrigerator section are cheapest.

$1.00 for sauce. I had to guess on this price. I make a simple pizza sauce with canned sauce, diced tomatoes and tomato paste, but I think the amount I used was probably around $1.

$2.20 for cheese. I used already shredded mozzarella cheese from Sam’s Club.

$2.00 for toppings. This one could vary a lot obviously if you just make plain cheese pizzas or add all kinds of toppings.

$6.70 was the total! Most pizza ads I see are at least $10, and if you have it delivered you also have the cost of the tip. So let’s just say you spend a total of $12 on ordering a pizza. Making pizza bagels saves you about $5.30, compared to ordering! If you like eating pizza about once a week, you could save over $20 a month, that’s over $240 a year!

Pizza bagels are so easy and fast to make. And of course you could make these with English muffins, whole wheat bagels or some other type of bread.

  1. It is also really good on the frozen garlic bread!

  2. I like doing this with pitta breads, but will definately try it out with bagels! Looks tasty…
