An old picture of Gracia "reading" Curious George

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about asking their library for books that they don’t have at the library. There were 2 books I wanted to read that my library didn’t have in their catalog system.  Finally one day I got up the nerve to ask the librarian about the books, she directed me to the interlibrary loan lady, and guess what I have now? Both of those books! She did say that sometimes if they have to get the books from far away, like out of State, then I’d have to pay postage, but I just told her if I was going to have to pay postage, not to get them. But as it turns out I didn’t need to pay postage on either book! :) And she showed me how I can request books online, so easy! If there’s ever another book I want that they don’t have , I’ll definitely be doing this again! Thank you Midland County Library! I love you!

PS ~ One of the books was Family Feasts for $75 a Week by Mary Ostyn. I highly recommend this book, so go see if your library has it and if they don’t…well you know what to do! :)

  1. Have you read the “$5 Dollar Dinner Mom”? http://www.5dollardinners.com/

  2. I love the library! We also ask for books to be brought in. If it can’t be borrowed from another library, they will often purchase the book. Our library has ebooks now too!
I think I’ll check to see if I can borrow Family Feast for 75 a Week. Thanks!

  3. Our libraries do this as well. I discovered that some of the libraries in the system will also interloan dvds! The library is a wonderful resource for many things. Newspapers, magazines, movies, internet and of course books. Our system offers free toddler story time, kids book clubs and a summer reading program. Many libraries offer classes as well. Last week there was a class for learning how to use an i-pad. This week you can learn how to knit. I love the library!!! :)

  4. I have the $ 75 dollar book in our collection…It is AWSOME! People go crazy everytime I make the blueberry poppy seed muffins…(I add real blueberrries and whatever yogurt we have to it) I have bought a few really great books from amazon, used and paid less then a dollar for them…this is a great and frugal way for me to build my must have book collection for next to nothing…I also bought the Penny Pinchers almanac for .01 plus shipping…both books are worth their weight in gold!!!! Very Nice site too!
