Yesterday was a fun day! I had a play date with a couple of ladies from church and their kiddos. We made play dough. It was the first time I’ve ever made it and it was a success!!

I used Tammy’s recipe, although we didn’t add any scents and we added the food coloring at the end and kneaded it in, which worked great with the gel food coloring I had. Each of the 3 older kids got to pick out a color. Gracia picked blue, and it turned out to be a very bright vibrant sky blue!

According to Tammy’s Recipes it only costs 27 cents for 2 cups! A fun, cheap activity. It would also make a great gift for a kid, or you could make it at a Birthday party and send some home with each kid as a party favor!

  1. Looks like fun! I’ve also heard of adding a sprinkle of glitter. I think we’ll give this a try one day soon!

  2. Growing up I never had store bought play dough. My momma always made me homemade. She even made it for the little kids sunday school class she taught. I made it for my boys when they were little as well. So much fun. It’s safe if they eat it too, unlike the store bought stuff.

    • Now that I’ve made it, I don’t think I’ll ever buy it. It was so easy, and like you mentioned, you know what’s going in it, so it’s not a big deal if a kid tries to eat it.
