Just a couple of weekends ago I was encouraged by three different people. It amazes me how people’s words can affect how I’m feeling. It can completely brighten a gloomy day or turn a bright day gloomy.

I know this isn’t what it’s referring to, but like the saying goes, “talk is cheap!” It doesn’t cost anything to lift someone up with your kind words. There are so many ways to do this. It might be just saying you like their new dress, or writing a heart felt letter to them.  You can bless someone by simply saying “hi” on their facebook or calling up an old friend (I’m terrible at this one!).

Writing hand-written notes is a dying tradition, but so much fun and a perfect way to bless someone! A stamp only costs 45 cents, and a post card stamp is 32  cents. You can even make your own post card, saving even more! I know it means a lot to me when I get a nice encouraging hand-written note, I want to be faithful at writing and sending them too!

  1. We live in such a money-driven society that this is frustrating sometimes. Our family lives on a tight budget, so that I can stay home with our 2 boys, and because we want to make smart choices and be good stewards with what we do have (and stay out of debt, besides the student loans and mortgage we already have).

I really try to bless people in ways that don’t cost a lot, but it seems like people just aren’t receptive sometimes. It’s really frustrating. I invite people over for dinner but they’d rather eat out. Try to talk to someone with encouraging words and they don’t have time. Try to give them something that you put hours into making and they turn up their noses to it.

These are all great ideas, but I have found that the only people who appreciate them are those who are likeminded, you know? Sad :(

Anyway, I found your blog and I LOVE your small living space! If we had it to do over again, I would totally have done something like that over purchasing our home…it would be so nice to have less of a mortgage! ANd now we are stuck here because no one is buying double wides.

  2. This is a great series, Katy!
