First I’ll give you my totals so far for my June Challenge:

Food Groceries: $276.58, Goal: $250-$300

Non-Food Groceries: $5.41, Goal: $25

Eating Out: $187.99, Goal: $185

As you can see, I’m already over in eating out. :(

I’m on the high side of groceries, but pretty low in non-food groceries, so if I have to I can always “borrow” from that category. Now onto the week’s menu!

Breakfasts: Oatmeal, cream of wheat, toast, eggs or smoothies

Lunches: Burritos, sandwiches or leftovers

Suppers:

  • Eat out for Father’s Day (except we did it the day before, since we knew all the places would be crazy busy on Father’s Day).
  • Spaghetti with meat sauce, regular noodles and spaghetti squash noodles, salad and steamed broccoli
  • Savory pinto beans topped with cheese and crackers, and some sort of veggie on the side
  • Stir fry
  • Baked potatoes topped with leftover pinto beans, cheese and sour cream, fruit salad
  • Company picnic
  • Leftovers

Crock Pot Spagetti Sauce

  1. Your meal plans sound a lot like ours. The wrench in June’s budget for us this month is my father-in-law will be coming to stay with us for a week. And I don’t want to subject his digestive system to the amount of beans and grains that we normally eat. So I’m “saving” the beef roast and turkey slices we currently have in our freezer just for his visit. And will use the bulk of what’s left in our grocery budget just for that week. Now that school is out for my 2 daughters, lunches are a bit easier to manage — we can do large salads most days. And homemade tortillas with beans and rice. The homemade tortillas are really best when fresh, so they’ll be tastier as a summer lunch. Good luck staying within your budget!

  2. Greetings from Colorado! I’m bored at work so I decided to browse your website on my iphone during lunch break. I love the information you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m amazed at how quick your blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, very good site!
