Being here at the missionary training center we’re busy with classes, homework, outreach, friends, family and the list goes on. As things get crazy, I’m reminded not how much smoother my life is when I keep things simple. I keep things simple by….
I skip making desserts unless it’s a special occasion. It saves us time, money and we’re healthier for it.
We keep our decorations to a minimum, this makes the house feel less cluttered, there’s less to dust and less to pack next time we move.
We don’t eat elaborate meals very often, and I like to keep simple meals on the menu for busy days.
We try not to collect too many toys. The less we own, the less to pick up!
I love having a white board in the kitchen to write down groceries I’m running low on. If I didn’t do this I’m sure I’d forget a lot more things on my grocery list!
Instead of having all our towels in our bathroom, we just keep out 3 (one for each of us) and we make sure to hang them up between uses to let them air out, so I don’t have to wash them as often.
I try to leave the kitchen clean before going to bed. I’ve noticed my mornings are so much nicer when I don’t have to face dirty dishes and a cluttered counter.
I sometimes make big batches of food to eat multiple times that week or freeze for later.
I keep most of Gracia’s clothes in the lower drawers of the dresser so she can reach them herself.
Often our snacks are something as easy as piece of fresh fruit. Just wash or peel and eat!
Menu planning!! When I don’t make a menu plan this go down hill!
I know none of these ideas are earth shattering, in fact you’ve probably heard them all before, but I’ve been reminded how much they really do make my life simpler! What are some ways you keep your life simple?

Living in a small studio apartment, I can’t go to bed without the dishes being done, they stare at me all night and morning time, I’d dread opening my eyes.
Your house looks so restful. There is a lot to be said for simplicity. More time together as a family beats having to clean up all the clutter!
