We have a foster child in our home! He’s a cute little boy, but I can’t share his name, pictures or really much about him publicly on the internet…so we’ll just call him Little Buddy. He’s only been in our home a week. I still wake-up in the mornings and think, “Am I really a foster mom???”

Maybe sometime I’ll tell more about how it all came about, but the short version is that we started the fostering classes earlier this year and just a few days before getting the call about Little Buddy, we had been at the office signing our foster┬álicence!

Did you know that there’s over 463,000 kids in the United Stats in foster care? Big need for both foster parents and parents to adopt right here in our own communities!

  1. Yay!! Congrats :)

  2. Please let us know how it is going…I’ve often thought about doing this.

    • In most ways it’s going way better than I expected. The hardest part has just been the kids getting along, especially since Gracia (our daughter) has been the only child for 5 years. But they seem to be playing better now. There is such a huge need for foster parents! You’d be such a blessing if you did it!

  3. How exciting!

  4. You and your husband are very kind & generous for becoming foster parents :)

  5. Yay, for your little family!! Husband and I adopted our two amazing daughters through our DHHS system, and it is the best thing that we have ever done. Not sure what his age is, and not sure about his background, but if you arrive at some behavioral hiccups, I would suggest a book called “99 Ways To Drive Your Kid Sane” by Brita St. Clair.

    • Thanks for the book suggestion! I’ve been trying to do lots of reading about parenting, child safety, etc…
