Have you ever wanted to make a cake that wasn’t sweet, but savory? We threw a birthday party for my sis-in-law and decided to be nontraditional and make a cheese cake, but not a cheese cake that you put cherries on top, a cheese cake made out of the same ingredients you make cheese balls with.

Bottom to top: sun-dried tomato & herb, spicy, and original


We were not specific  with our ingredients, but I can give you the basic recipes, which can be tweaked to your liking.


  • Cream cheese
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Parmesian
  • Garlic Powder
  • Cracked black pepper

Sun-dried Tomato & Herb (Original plus):

  • Chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary

Spicy (Original plus):

  • Chili powder
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Extra cracked black pepper
  • Chipotle juice
  • Tabasco sauce
  • Creole seasoning
  • Paprika

First let the cream cheese soften and grate the cheddar. Mix all the ingredients with a hand mixer and form into whatever shape you like, a ball, a cake, one time I even did it like a pumpkin with a celery stem. Chill in the fridge to help it firm up a little before serving. Serve with crackers or veggie sticks.
